This weekend, the GVU Center hosted Journalism 3G: A Symposium on Computation + Journalism. More than 200 people—a mix of academics and professionals, editors and reporters, journalists and Web developers—came together to talk about the ways technology is changing journalism.
We were honored to have keynotes from a number of distinguished speakers:
- Krishna Bharat, Principal Scientist at Google and creator of Google News
- Michael Skoler, Executive director of the Center for Innovation in Journalism @ American Public Media and the founder of Public Insight Journalism
- Elizabeth Spiers, media columnist for Fast Company and founding editor of Gawker.com
A few of the panels that were conducted during the symposium:
- Ubiquitous Journalism Panel
- Social Computing and Journalism Panel
- Information Mashups: Aggregation, Syndication, and Web Services
Thanks to all who attended for making this event a huge success. This event was organized by the College of Computing's own Irfan Essa and Nick Diakopoulos.
